The Big Picture

Reading of the Day: Zechariah 3-5

Zechariah 4:10: For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

Art galleries have so many beautiful, timeless, famous masterpieces. Take the Mona Lisa for instance. We can clearly see the big picture & main focus in our heads: the woman with the questionable smile. The painting has left a lasting imprint on the world thanks to artist Leonardo da Vinci. It is now heavily guarded at the Louvre Museum in France. But how did it get to that point? It started with one stroke. One stroke of the brush turned into more, and time turned the smallest, most intricate lines into a masterpiece! This is just one example of how we can keep the above Scripture in perspective. We can't despise the day of small things! That's how the bigger picture is created! It may be the bigger picture that leaves the lasting imprint, but it wouldn't have come to be without the first, tiniest stroke. Every Mona Lisa is made up of tiny brush strokes, just like every mountaintop experience might start off with some little hills. Not too impressive, but very progressive! Each little thing prepares us and leads us to the bigger thing-and before we know it, the masterpiece is complete. All the spaces are filled. We see the big picture...and we understand why all those small things needed to be a part of it! Imagine the Mona Lisa without that tiny line that made her mouth. That tiny little addition which has become the main attraction of the big picture! Would all the mouths of the world which God so intricately created be talking so much about that painting without that smile!? The world may never know! One day, we'll see God's big picture. One day, it will all make sense. But for now, rejoice & appreciate the small things, and remember that it's all part of His Masterpiece!
