Shake it off!

Reading of the Day 9/1/25: Isaiah 51-53

Isaiah 52:2: Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

The prophet Isaiah is speaking to captive Israel in this verse. They had been taken captive by Babylon & were being judged by God for walking away from Him. In walking away from Him in heart, God removed them physically out of their land. But even though Isaiah warned them to repent before this happened in earlier chapters, Isaiah still offers a message of hope! He reminds them that God is STILL THERE...and not just there in presence, but there FOR THEM! God would hear their prayer & cry of repentance, even in a far away land like Babylon! We've all made choices that have distanced us greatly from God. We've all felt like we could never come to a place where we could go back & make things right. But we STILL CAN because He is STILL THERE...FOR US! Repentance is our "refresh button." When we repent, we can shake off the dust, remove the bands of bondage which held us as slaves to our sin, and keep moving forward! We no longer need to feel stuck, beating ourselves up for getting into such a mess! Remember, the prodigal son was still welcomed back with open arms! Also, the disciples went through some tough times too! They had the ability to reach so many hearts, yet there were those who simply wouldn't budge. The disciples could have felt like failures in those moments, but Jesus, in all His love & wisdom, sent them out with a great Truth before entering the harvest field: Matthew 10:13-14: "And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet." Jesus told them to shake it off & let their peace return to them! Let's allow our peace to return to us today! Let's repent, not only with a humble heart, but in a 180-degree turn! Out of the land of captivity! Out of the mess we got into! Out of that place where we don't feel good enough! Shake it off, walk it out, and walk into His promises...1 Peter 2:9:"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"
