Room to Receive
Reading of the Day 6/12/25: Psalms 9-11
Psalm 10:17: LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
We have so many things we come to The Lord for. If we really think about it, we truly need Him in every aspect of our lives...but when we pour out the desires of our hearts to Him, are our hearts prepared to receive what we ask for? That's why this Scripture really stood out to me. It says that The Lord hears the desire of the humble, but He also will prepare their hearts! The "want" may be there, but is the ability to handle & manage the blessing also present? I really had to stop & think-how often do I ask God to prepare me for what's to come? Everything God gives us is His...He is just entrusting us to care for it for a little while! We must prepare our hearts through repentance first, because that "clears us out" and makes room to receive those desires we ask for. Then, we must have a heart of worship, praise & faith, thanking Him in advance! We must also ask The Lord according to His Will, giving us the wisdom and help to manage what we are given...which means what's to come may not look exactly as we'd hoped. But with a prepared heart, whatever we receive according to His Will will be better than our original desire! If our hearts are unprepared, we will always look at it in disappointment. Let's not allow an unprepared heart to delay our desires today! Let's make room for Him at the inn of our hearts, in turn making room to receive all that The Lord desires to bring into our lives! Matthew 6:33: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
